3/13/06 AWHL Championship - UAA 0 vs. Moose's Tooth 1 (Loss)
After winning 4 playoff games in a row to earn a spot in the AWHL Championship game, the Lady Seawolves ended their season with a 1-0 loss to Moose's Tooth, taking a well deserved 2nd place in the tournament. During a very intense but clean game, it stayed scoreless through two periods, until Moose's Tooth chipped a shot past UAA goaltender Denali Austin in the middle of the third. UAA had numerous scoring chances of their own, including 3 breakaways and one post shot. UAA was outshot 15-11 and went 0 for 1 on the powerplay. At the final buzzer, the Lady Seawolves kept smiles on their faces and skated away with their heads held high, proud to have played an outstanding tournament and season.
UAA finished their 2005-2006 season with a 15-10-8 record.

3/12/06 AWHL Playoffs- UAA 7 vs. Carey Homes 2 (Win)
In game two on Sunday, UAA cruised past Carey Homes 7-2, landing them a spot in the AWHL Championship game! Sarah Smythe continued her hot streak with 2 goals and 1 assist. Her first period breakaway goal got UAA rolling. Defensemen Karlyn Remsen fired in a rocket from the top of the circles just seconds before the end of the period. During the second, Mika Little pounded in a pass in the slot from Sarah Smythe, then Karen Fisher ripped a shot in off a pass from the team's workhorse, Christy Everett. Later in the third, Debbie Mattson knocked in a rebound off a Holly Krenz shot, Sarah Smythe added her second, and Holly Krenz scored off feed from Laura Back. UAA outshot Carey Homes 25-12, and their playoff record improves to 4-1-0 (15-9-8 overall).
3/12/06 AWHL Playoffs- UAA 5 vs. 6th Ave. Outfitters 0 (Win)
The Lady Seawolves kept their playoff momentum going with a convincing 5-0 win against 6th Ave. Outfitters, in their first of two playoff games on Sunday. Sarah Smythe came through for UAA netting 3 goals, while Savannah Ortiz had a 4 point game with one goal and 3 assists. Olya Meunier scored a shorthanded goal and Karen Fisher had 3 assists of her own. UAA had 3 penalities and outshot 6th Ave. 46-11. Their playoff record is now 3-1-0 (14-9-8 overall).
3/10/06 AWHL Playoffs- UAA 2 vs. Moose's Tooth 1 (Win)
In one of fastest and fiestiest games of the season, the Lady Seawolves held on to beat Moose's Tooth 2-1 in their third game of the playoff tournament. Sarah Smythe scored on a breakaway off the opening face-off and added another shortly after to give UAA the early lead. In a game riddled with penalties, high tempers, and strict officiating, Moose's Tooth scored in the third period, greatly intensifying the last few minutes of the game. UAA was shorthanded the entire last 2 minutes, but with sensational goaltending by Denali Austin and solid defense, were able to kill the clock to seal the victory. UAA had 7 penalties and was outshot 21-17. UAA's playoff record improves to 2-1-0 (13-9-8 overall).
3/9/06 AWHL Playoffs- UAA 6 vs. Mat-Su 5 (Win)
In their second game of the playoffs, the Lady Seawolves exploded with offense to beat number one ranked Mat-Su 6-5 Thursday night at the UAA Wells Fargo Sports Complex. UAA's Sarah Smythe exploded for a 4 point night, scoring 1 goal and 3 assists. Olya Meunier added two goals, while Mika Little, Savannah Oritz, and Natasha Meunier each had a goal. The other assists went to Christy Everett, Sally Henderson, and Holly Moore. UAA outshot Mat-Su 19-18 and went 1 for 2 on the powerplay. Goaltender Denali Austin made a flurry of key saves to help UAA earn its first 2 points of the AWHL playoffs, and a tournament record of 1-1-0 (12-9-8 overall).

3/5/06 AWHL Playoffs- UAA 1 vs. RE/MAX 2 (Loss)
The Lady Seawolves suffered a heartbreaking 2-1 loss to RE/MAX Sunday night in the first game of the AWHL playoffs. UAA's Mika Little tipped a pass in from Sarah Smythe early in the first period to give the Lady Seawolves the early lead. But RE/MAX was able to tie it up on their only powerplay opportunity. With 14 seconds left in the game, during a huge scramble in front of UAA goaltender Denali Austin, a UAA player apparently covered the puck in the crease, which resulted in an automatic penalty shot...and a game winning goal for RE/MAX. UAA outshot RE/MAX 19-16. The AWHL playoffs are a round robin tournament, where each team plays eachother once. A team is awarded 2 points for a win, 1 for a tie, 0 for a loss. The teams with the most points after 5 games, plays in the championship.

3/3/06 UAA 2 vs. RE/MAX 2 (Tie)
In their last game of the regular season, the Lady Seawolves had to fight back and score two game tying goals to even up RE/MAX at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex. In the first period, UAA's first goal was tipped in by Jillian Schroeder with an assist going to Savannah Ortiz. Late in the third period, Olya Meunier scored with a wrist shot from the top of the left circle that beat the RE/MAX goalie low stick side, knotting the game 2-2.
UAA was outshot 19-16, and ends the regular season with a 11-8-8 record (30 pts).

2/22/06 UAA 1 vs. Moose's Tooth 3 (loss)
The Lady Seawolves fell to 11-8-7 Wednesday night in a 3-1 loss to Moose's Tooth. UAA's Olya Meunier kicked off the scoring with a beautiful breakaway goal in the first period. Goaltender Denali Austin stayed strong, but UAA wasn't able to hang onto the lead, as Moose's Tooth rallied back with 3 goals of their own to seal the victory. UAA was outshot 23-10.

2/19/06 UAA 2 vs. Mat-Su 3 (loss)
The Lady Seawolves suffered a 3-2 loss to league leading Mat-Su, Sunday night in Eagle River. Despite being outshot 19-11, UAA was able to score twice to tie the game and put Mat-Su on their heels. Debbie Mattson scored off a rebound on Savannah Ortiz's breakaway shot in the first period. This was her first goal since recovering from a knee injury that kept her out of the line up the first half of the season. The second game tying goal came from Mika Little, who pounded in a loose puck beneath the Mat-Su goalie. She was assisted by a hardworking Christy Everett. But Mat-Su scored the game winner with two minutes left in the third period. UAA falls to 11-7-7 with two games left before playoffs.

UAA 2 vs. 6th Ave. Outfitters 1 (Win)
With an incredible performance by goaltender Denali Austin, who made a season high 27 saves, the Lady Seawolves were able to squeak by 6th Ave. Outfitters with a 2-1 victory. After being outskated and outshot 13-2 in the first period, UAA found themselves down 1-0. But UAA woke up in the second, throwing 12 shots on net and tying the game with Sarah Smythe's goal, courtesy of Savannah Ortiz and Emmy Jurkowska. The third period continued with end to end action, where with minutes left, Holly Moore tipped in the game winning goal off a shot from the top of the circle by Laura Back. UAA's record improves to 11-6-7.

2/12/06 UAA 2 vs. Mat-Su 2 (Tie)
Trying to gain momentum for the playoffs, the Lady Seawolves tied for the seventh time of the season Sunday night in Eagle River against number one ranked Mat-Su. UAA leading goal scorer Olya Meunier scored twice in the first period to put the Seawolves up early. Wingers Debbie Mattson and Savannah Ortiz tallied the assists. In a game with end to end action, UAA struggled to hold onto the lead in the third period, where Mat-Su eventually tied it up. UAA put 20 shots on goal, while goaltender Denali Austin posted 15 solid saves. UAA's record improves to 10-7-7.

2/7/06 UAA 4 vs. Mooses Tooth 3 Win
In one of the fastest paced games of the season, the lady Seawolves came away with a strong 4-3 win against league powerhouse Mooses Tooth Wednesday night at Dempsey Anderson ice arena. Defenseman Karlyn Remsen led the team with 2 goals, while Mica Little and Jhenya Meunier each scored one. Holly Moore and Sara Smythe each had one assist. UAA put 13 shots on goal, while at the other end, goaltender Denali Austin made 13 saves to improve the team record to 10-7-6.

2/2/2006 UAA 2 vs. Carey Homes 2 Tie
After two weeks without a game, the Seawolves skated to a 2-2 tie against a fast and fiesty Carey Homes team. Mica Little, a recent addition to the roster, notched her first assist of the season with a pass from the boards to Olya Meunier who scored on a shot from the slot to get the early lead. Olya Meunier buried her second goal of the night shortly after. By putting heavy pressure on the Seawolves, Carey Homes was able to capitalize on UAA's defensive mistakes to quickly even the score.
UAA fired 14 shots on goal, while goaltender Denali Austin made 19 solid saves, including key stops late in the third period. UAA's record improves to 9/6/6.

1/15/2006 UAA 5 vs. Rayville 6 Loss
In a non-conference game, UAA was almost able to pull off their second straight victory without a goalie Sunday night, but fell one short to Rayville. Since goaltender Denali Austin has been gone on vacation, defenseman Emmy Jurkowska and forward Sally Henderson split time between the pipes as the "sixth-man". Holly Moore scored her first goal of the season and added 2 assists for a three point night. Savannah also scored her first goal of the season. Karen Fisher, Savannah Ortiz and Olya Muenier each had a goal and an assist. Defenseman Lindsay Miksch blasted in her first goal of the season while playing forward in the third period. In the next game, the Seawolves will battle the All-Stars, Thursday, January 26, 8:30pm @ UAA.
1/8/2006 UAA 4 Moose's Tooth 0 Win
UAA pulled off a shut out win against the #1 ranked team on Sunday in what was the best team performance of the season. They did all this without any coaches or a goaltender. UAA got goals from Emmy, Kirsten, Olya and Sara Vernia got her first goal of the year. Logan played 6 player back in place of the goalie and made several saves

UAA extened its unbeaten streak to 5 games as they defeted the Skinny Raven team 3-1. Jenya scored her first goal of the season and her sister Olya scored her team leading 10th goal.

UAA 1 vs. Re-Max 0 Win
The Ladies 4 game winless streak came to an end Sunday night as the Seawolves skated to a 1-0 victory over Re-Max. Backed by some fantastic goaltending by Denall who stopped all 17 shots she faced for her 4th shutout of the season. After a very close first period, UAA got on the board when Laura stuffed home a shot off a rebound half way through the second. That was all the scoring UAA needed. The ladies kept up their offence out shooting Re-Max 20-17, but played solid defense to hold on for the win.

UAA 3 vs. Mat-Su 3 Tie
After being down 3-1 in the first period, and having a scoreless second, UAA came from behind by scoring 2 exciting goals in the third to tie the game. Laura Back scored the first goal of the game, and later added an assist. Natasha Meunier and Karen "Fish" Fisher were the goal scorers in the third period. Savannah Ortiz also had an assist. UAA outshot Mat-Su 33-15. Goaltender Denali Austin stood on her head in the third period, at one point stopping 5 shots in a 45 second span, to help the Seawolves improve to 5-5-4.
The next game is Sunday 12/11 vs. Re-Max, 9:15pm @ Dempsey Anderson Rink.

UAA 1 vs. 6th Avenue Outfitters 1 Tie
This was possibly one of the best played games of the season. UAA outshot the Outfitters 25-15. With strong forechecking, they were able to keep the puck in the offensive zone for most of the game, which resulted in many scoring chances. Defenseman Logan Raynor had a end to end rush that turned into a breakaway. Her initial shot was stopped, but while falling she was able to get her stick on the rebound to tie the game, 1-1. UAA's record improves to 5-5-3.
Next game is Sunday, December 4, 4:45pm vs. Mat-Su @ Wasilla Sports Complex.
Fallen Soldier
Debbie Mattson, UAA's team spark plug will be out for the rest of the season due to an injured knee she suffered in practice. Debbie's passion and enthusiasm will be missed on the ice, but she will continue to be a big part of the team on the bench. Get well soon Debbie!

Vs. Moose's Tooth 0-3 Loss
The lady Seawolves were handed their second consecutive shutout loss as the Moose's Tooth team skated to a 3-0 victory. The game was very tight for the first half with the score at 0-0 and shots at about 10 for each team. Moose's tooth scored once in the second period and finished up with two more in the third. The Seawolves had many chances, but the Moose's Tooth goalie had a great game and stopped all 22 of UAA's shots. UAA goalie Denali had 17 saves including 9 in the first period.
Both teams were 0 for 1 on the power play.

Vs. Mat-Sun 0-4 Loss
UAA was unable to extend their unbeaten streak as they lost 4-0 to Mat-Sun. The Seawolves had a rough start as Mat-Sun scored 2 goals in their first shift of the game. The UAA ladies played hard though and held Mat-Sun scoreless until halfway into the second period. Mat-Sun sealed their win with one final goal in the third.
The Seawolves were out shot 20-9 in the contest. UAA went 0 for 2 on the power play and Mat-Sun went 0-1.

Vs. Re-Max 0-3 Win
Denail stopped all 16 shots she faced and Christy racked up 3 points in UAA's thrilling 3-0 win over Re-Max. Karen Fisher put the Seawolves on the board as she poked in a rebound from Christy's shot. Towards the end of the period Christy and Olya came together for a highlight reel goal. Christy feed a pass across the slot to a streaking Olya who taped in for the goal. Christy toped off the Seawolf scoring with a beautiful deke.
The Seawolves were about more then just offence. It took Re-Max 10 minuets to register their first shot on goal. The UAA defence did a great job at limiting the shots and kept Re-Max at bay the entire game.
They also fended off 2 power plays and didn't surrender a single scoring chance.
UAA went 0 for 1 on the power play, Re-Max went 0 for 2.

Vs. Humpy's 3-3 Tie
Sunday nights game provided action all over the ice. The scores bounced back and forth, nice goals, beautiful saves, and some goofy Halloween costumes.
Humpy's struck first late in the first period. UAA quickly responded with a goal from Laura Back Who has played very well the last few games. In the second period, Humpy's defense scored a long hard wrist shot. Christy responded with a second effort in front of the net to poke in her 5th goal of the season.
In the third period, there was a scrum in front of the UAA net. After several rebound shots, a Humpy's player stood in front of an empty net with the puck on her stick. She shot what everyone in the rink thought was a sure goal, but UAA tender Denail made an amazing diving stick save to keep her team in the game and energize the bench.
Emmy then came out and scored her second goal of the season to put the Seawolves up 3-2. The game looked like it was in the bag, but Humpy's made a last drive with 8 seconds left and got a lucky bounce off Denali's stick to tie up the game as the buzzer went off.
The coaches dressed up for the game to give the ladies a little inspiration. Patrick came as a 80 butt-rock skier and Lucas was the new Willy Wonka. Good times!

Vs. Mat-Sun 2-6 Loss
UAA's four game unbeaten streak came to an end Thursday night at the hands of the Mat-Sun team. The Seawolves surrendered a season high 6 goals. After the first period, the score was 1-0 Mat-Sun. Both teams played well and it was a close game. Mat-Sun continued their scoring with 4 in the second and 1 in the third period to put them up 6-0. But the ladies didn't give up. Late in the third, Kirsten scored her first goal of the season as she slipped a shot past the Mat-Sun goalie who had an great game and made some amazing saves. Just a few minuets later, Debbie scored off a rebound to extend her goal scoring steak to 2 games.
UAA was 0 for 0 on the power play and Mat-Sun was 0 for 1.

Vs. Carey Homes 10-0 Win
Sunday night the lady Seawolves skated to a 10-0 victory over the Carey Homes team. This was the most lopsided UAA win in recent memory. 12 different player found their way on the score sheet. Olya Meunier let the way scoring three goals giving her the first hat trick of the season. Logan, Debbie, Christy, Fish, Karlyn and Jillian had 2 points each. UAA outshot Carey 25 to 7. Seawolves goaltender Denali had a quite night making just 7 saves, but held on for her second shutout of the season. This win extends the ladies unbeaten streak to 4 games.
UAA was 0 for 1 on the powerplay and Carey Homes went 0 for 2.

Vs. Humpy's 0-2 Win
Seawolves goaltender Denali Austin made 17 solid saves en route to her first shutout of the season Sunday night in a 2-0 victory over Humpy's. Defensemen Olya Meunier scored on an end to end rush in the first period. Emmy Jurkowska found the back of the net through a maze of players with a shot from the point shortly after. The Seawolves are now 3-2-1.

10/5/2005 Vs. Carey Homes 3-4 Win
The Seawolves scored a season high 4 goals in their second contest against Carey Homes. UAA used goals from 4 different players to lift them to their first win in three games. Carey Homes struck first early in the first period. Laura tied up the game just minutes later. Karlyn and Christy each scored in the second period to put the Seawolves up 3-1. The start of the third period was a little shaky as UAA surrendered 2 goals to give up their comfortable lead. With only 6 minutes left, Olya skated cost to coast and made a diving shot around the Carey Homes goaltender to put UAA up 4-3.
Carey Homes went 0-1 on the power play, UAA went 0-1.

Vs. Mat-Sun 3-3 Tie
The Seawolves manages a 3-3 tie vs. The Mat-Sun team Sunday night. Mat-Sun took a 1-0 lead 1 minute into the first period as former Seawolf Bay Baskin scored a break away goal. Mat-Sun struck again in the second to extend their lead to 2-0. At the halfway point of the game, the ladies were facing a two goal deficit and a possible 3 game loosing streak, but they never gave up as they came back and scored three goals.
Christy scored her first goal of the season late in the third from a nice breakout and a hard fight in front of the net. Kirsten grabbed the assist. Early in the third, Christy and Kirsten hooked up again to tie the game 2-2. Later in the third, Laura also scored her first goal of the season to put the Seawolves up 3-2.
Mat-Sun came back in the third scoring their second power play goal of the night after UAA was hit with a ‘Too many women on the ice’ call.
Mat-Sun went 2 for 3 on the power play, UAA went 0 for 0.

9/25/2005 Vs. Moose's Tooth 3-2 loss
Sunday night the lady Seawolves played well in a very physical match against the Moose's Tooth team. The game was close in score even though the Seawolves were outshot 29 to 12. Goaltender Denali Austin had another huge game coming away with 26 saves in the 3-2 loss.
UAA struck first with a goal from Natasha Meunier early in the first period. Moose's Tooth came back with a goal in the first and one in the second. Late in the second Karlyn Remsen scored her first goal of the season to tie up the game at 2 goals each. Moose's Tooth got the final score in the third. Moose's Tooth went 1 for 1 on the power play, and UAA went 0 for 0.
The ladies next game is this Sunday 10/2 at the MAC rink in Eagle River at 8:15pm.
