The Structure of USUAA

USUAA comprises the student body President, Vice President, 23 elected Student Senators, and one representative from each of the following organizations; Club Council, Graduate Student Association, Greek Council, and the Residence Hall Association. To help USUAA function as a unified body it is divided into three components, each serving a distinct purpose.

Executive
The Executive includes the student-elected President and Vice President as well as chairs of all standing committees, the Government Relations Director, and the Public Relations Director. Members of the Executive ensure the organization is fulfilling its stated mission and effectively advocating for all UAA students.

General Assembly
The 23 elected Senators and 5 Representatives from Club Council, Graduate Student Association, Greek Council, and the Residence Hall Association comprise the Assembly. The Assembly is lead by the Speaker of the Assembly, a Senator elected by this body to organize meetings and ensure business is completed. The President, Vice President, Government Relations Director, Public Relations Director, and all USUAA Appointees report to the Assembly.

Senators serve as liaisons and voice the student opinion in all business matters. Representatives are similar to Senators but have been appointed by their respective student organization to represent the specific needs of that student population. Senators and Representatives are responsible for researching, drafting and voting on legislation dealing with student issues in order to enhance the quality of education and life for both current and future UAA students.

Senators and Representatives become members of two standing committees within USUAA. Standing committees include Activities, Rules, Finance, Student and Academic Affairs, Sustainability, and Legislative Affairs. Each standing committee coordinates programs, events, and activities to carry out the mission of USUAA.

The Assembly meets Friday afternoons at 3pm in Student Union. All UAA students are encouraged to attend.

Appointees
The USUAA President and Vice President appoint numerous students to serve on UA and UAA standing boards, organizations, and committees. USUAA Appointees become part of the decision-making process at UAA by helping to establish and review policies, procedures, and investments that affect the campus community. Appointees report directly to the President and update the organization during regular Assembly meetings.
