Why should you become involved with your Student Government?

The Union of Students provides opportunities to gain leadership skills and experience by serving on University boards, committees, and task groups that make UAA policy recommendations and decisions affecting students, faculty, and administration.  This provides you the opportunity to represent fellow students and to make a difference on your campus by giving input regarding changes in policies, procedures, programs, etc.  You can also gain recognition, improve your self-image , increase personal growth, and learn how to work as a member of a team.  Training and workshops provide knowledge of parliamentary procedures, the legislative and budgetary process, advocating skills, problem solving, and business/communication skills.

USUAA Student Involvement Positions:

Student Ombudsman

The USUAA Student Ombudsman is a student appointed by the USUAA President to serve as a neutral party to confidentially address student concerns and assist students in resolving their University-related complaints. The Ombudsman may assist a student in preparing documentation, understanding University policy, and/or coordinating mediations and meetings. Students may schedule a meeting with the Ombudsman by contacting the Administrative Assistant for USUAA.
