Appointments and Emergencies

Appointments

Unlike the rest of the clinic, the front desk staff does not schedule mental health appointments. The best way to make an appointment is to stop by the Student Health and Counseling Center.  If a practitioner is available, they will meet with you to briefly to set up an appointment. If we are all meeting with clients when you come in, someone will get back to you by phone that same day if at all possible. Or you can just call the Student Health Center at 786-4040 and request an appointment for counseling. If a practitioner isn't available at the time you call, you can leave a message and we will call you back. We don't encourage communication by e-mail because we can not guarantee the confidentiality of that form of communication.

Emergencies

If you or someone you know is having a life threatening emergency, call 911 now, or if you are on campus dial 64911 or 9911. If it is not a life threatening emergency, but if you or someone you know is at risk for self harm, call Anchorage Community Mental Health (ACMH) 24 hour crisis line at 563-3200. If you live in the residence halls and you are concerned for someone, contact your Resident Advisor, as well as ACMH at 563-3200. No after hours services are available at the Student Health and Counseling Center. However, we will try to accommodate you if you are feeling an urgent need for an appointment, so please let us know when you make your appointment, how soon you feel you need to be seen.
