Private Scholarships, UAA Specific

The Alaska Association of Environmental Professionals Scholarship Application: To provide scholarships for full-time undergraduate or graduate students currently enrolled in a degree-seeking program in the area of environmental (or natural) sciences, environmental technology, or environmental policy. 2010/2011 Scholarship Application will be available fall 2010.

The Alaska Community Foundation Sven E. Lorraine Eriksson Scholarship

Chugach Gem and Mineral Society, inc.

PEO Chapter K Scholarship: available to females with a minimum 3.0 GPA majoring in Education. 

Ralph R. Migliaccio Memorial Scholarship: Available to juniors and seniors enrolled in Geology or Civil Engineering. Application deadline: December 4, 2009

Private Scholarships, Non-UAA Specific

  • A & F Scholarship: $1000 national scholarship to all students. Must submit essay by June 19, 2010.
  • Accounting Education Center Various scholarships available to students in business related majors. Deadlines vary thru April 1, 2010.
  • AES 2009 Scholarship
  • AFROTC at UAA- If you are looking for a rewarding and challenging career, consider serving as an officer in the US Air Force. Air Force ROTC has 2-year, 3-year, and 4-year programs that lead to a commission as a 2nd Lieutenant.
  • Alaska Community Foundation David E. Knox Memorial Nursing Fellowship- Support outstanding candidates in the pursuit of registered nursing degrees and service to small Alaskan communities.
  • Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium: Scholarships and internships for Alaska Native and American Indian High School and College Students; Deadlines vary by scholarship.
  • The American Society for Nondestructive Testing, Inc.: a $3000 scholarship given in recognition of engineering undergraduate students enrolled in an ABET accredited program and choosing nondestructive testing and evaluation as their field of specialization.  Deadline: December 15, 2009
  • Annual Academic Business Scholarship:  a scholarship for students who are pursuing business related academic majors.
  • Army Nurse Corps Association: Deadline April 1, 2010
  • DegreeDirectory.org: Scholarships for business, social science, communications and journalism and those seeking online bachelor degrees.
  • The Edward and Anna Range Schmidt Charitable Trust offers grants and emergency financial assistance for Alaska Native students of Earth and Environmental Science (internship support, travel and/or expenses related to workshops and science fairs, support needed to secure employment in science-related fields or emergency needs). They accept applications anytime and must be made by letter from a sponsor. Write to: PO Box 770982, Eagle River, AK 99577 or call Nora Shew or Frederic Wilson at 1.907.786.7445/7448.
  • Green Chips Stocks Student Scholarship: Provides a $1000 scholarship to the student who can write the most compelling argument supporting the economic superiority of renewable energy integration. Deadline: December 31, 2009
  • Kenai River Sportfishing Association: Provides scholarships to students who strive to improve and save the unique environment of Alaska, particularly the Kenai River.
  • Forclosure.com: Offering five (5) scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $5,000.  Must submit article on the topic of "How to solve the foreclosure crisis" by December 31, 2009. 
  • Fund For Veterans Education:  Established to provide scholarships for veterans from all branches of the United States Armed Forces who served in Afghanistan or Iraq since September  11,  2001  who are now enrolled in college or vocational-technical school.
  • The Gillam Foundation provides scholarships to graduating Alaska high school seniors who will be attending a four-year university, as a full-time student.  Applicants must be interested in pursuing a degree in global commerce, business administration, economics, accounting, finance, etc.
  • Marshall Scholarships:  Scholarships are awarded annually to at least 40 young US citizens who are college graduates.  Successful candidates are able to study a wide range of subjects for a further degree at any of Britain's universities.
  • National Association of Abandoned Mine Land Programs
  • National Society of Professional Engineers: Variety of scholarships offered to graduate and under-graduate engineering majors. Deadlines vary throughout spring
  • NAWIC FOUNDERS’ SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION Applicant must be currently enrolled in a construction-related degree program, and have at least one term remaining in a course of study leading to a degree or an associate degree in a construction-related field. High school seniors are not eligible.
  • PepsiCo Hispanic Heritage Scholarship: Offering 30 2010/2011 scholarships ranging in value from $500 to $4000. Application deadline: March 1, 2010.
  • Pride Foundation and The Greater Seattle Business Association (GSBA): Various scholarships with various eligibility requirements; all promote leadership and diversity in the LGBT community.  One online application for all, due January 31, 2010. 
  • SPENDonLIFE Scholarship Program:  Offers financial assistance for college students who are unable to obtain student loans due to a negative credit history. 
  • Talbots Scholarship Foundation 
  • The Gates Millennium Scholars funded by a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and administered by the United Negro College Fund and partners
  • USA Funds Access to Education Scholarships - The USA Funds Access to Education Scholarships are open to high-school seniors, currently enrolled college students or incoming college students
