At the end of the semester, once grades are submitted (5 business days after finals), a final degree audit will be completed. If the student meets all requirements by the end of the semester, the certificate or degree is awarded and diploma will be printed. Final degree checks are done in random order; students with special circumstances that require an immediate degree posting should work with their department for special consideration. All degrees will be posted within 6-8 weeks.

The name on your diploma will be your official name on file at the time you earned your degree/certificate.  Diplomas will be printed with first name, middle initial, last name; and if applicable mailed to 'address of record'.  Please verify your name and current address on UAOnline.  Change Form (for name & address) can be found at http://www.uaa.alaska.edu/admissions/forms.cfm.  Foreign students must submit address changes prior to leaving the country.

If your 'address of record' is in Anchorage, Fort Richardson, Elmendorf AFB, Chugiak, or Eagle River you will be notified through your UA email account when your diploma is ready to be picked up at One Stop Student Services in the University Center.  If your 'address of record' is outside of these areas your diploma will be delivered via certified mail. 

Diplomas prepared for pick up are available at the One Stop Student Services during the semester they are awarded until the following semester diplomas are printed.  As the following semester diplomas are printed - those remaining UNCLAIMED diplomas from the previous semester will be automatically delivered via certified mail to the student's 'address of record'.  All 'certified mailed' diplomas when returned to UAA will be shredded after 6 months from date returned to UAA.  A Duplicate Diploma Application  with $25 fee is required once a diploma has been shredded.

If you intend to have another individual pick up your diploma they will be required to present a written signed letter of permission with a copy of your picture identification attached and their own picture ID to verify their identity.

In rare circumstances a duplicate diploma may be issued. Please see duplicate diploma policy for more details. We do not reprint diplomas based on name change.

Occupational Endorsement Certificates

Occupational Endorsement Certificates are awarded by the offering academic unit, rather than at commencement. Students should check with their advisors to determine what arrangements are followed.
