Prince Orlofsky's Tea Party

By: Mari Hahn  Nov 15, 2004

The University of Alaska Anchorage Opera Ensemble is holding an afternoon of opera and sweets at “Prince Orlofsky’s Tea Party” to raise funds for upcoming productions.

Now in its second year, the ensemble will be performing a holiday show in December and Henry Purcell’s “Dido and Aeneas” in the spring.

The fund-raiser will be dedicated to scenes and arias from operas and operettas. Mellifluous music and seductive serenades will accompany delectable desserts and beverages at the event, which takes place Nov. 20 in the UAA Student Union Den.

Featured performers include the students of the UAA Opera Ensemble and voice faculty members Mari Hahn, Mickey Belden, Stasia Jamieson and Bill Garry.

The program includes works by Johann Strauss, Mozart, Menotti and excerpts from Humperdinck’s “Hansel and Gretel.” There will be a silent auction including gift certificates for fine restaurants, works of art, gift baskets, jewelry and the perfect holiday gift: Voice lessons from Mari Hahn.

Come support the UAA music department’s newest ensemble in an afternoon of great music and entertainment.
