Join UAA's Book Club, The Seawolf Readers By: Chris Hall Sep 27, 2005 “The Kite Runner” is the October selection of the Seawolf Readers, a new book club at UAA.
“The Kite Runner”, Khaled Hosseini’s debut novel chronicles the life of a young man as he grows up in 1960s Afghanistan. Amir, the main character, discovers love, friendship, death, and understanding. Khaled’s website describes the novel as “An epic tale of fathers and sons, of friendship and betrayal, that takes us from the final days of Afghanistan’s monarchy to the atrocities of the present.”
Linda Hardyman, who recently traveled in the Middle East, will share pictures and experiences with the group. Two years ago, Linda and members of the University Honors Advisory Board raised over $25,000 to build a girl’s school in Afghanistan. During her trip to the Middle East, Linda visited the school built by UAA students.
Join the club October 10 at 6 p.m. in the UAA Bookstore for discussion and light refreshments. Pick up your copy of “The Kite Runner” at the UAA Campus Bookstore and receive a 20% discount off the cover price.
