The 2005 Annual Business Plan Competition is soliciting business plan entries from Alaskan businesses.
This annual event is hosted by the UAA College of Business and Public Policy to promote and nurture new business growth in Alaska and to give Alaska Business students a chance to shine.
The competition is open to both for-profit and non-profit businesses that are operating or intend to operate in Alaska. To enter, each team must submit a completed application form to the competition administrator no later than Friday, October 7, 2005. Each business must be at least part owned by students or be willing to receive assistance from students as part of the competition. A student is a person registered to take classes full-time or part-time at a university or college in Alaska during the academic semester that includes the competition dates. Student competitors are eligible for several cash prizes (only students associated with the business are eligible to receive prizes, according to conditions in the sponsorship agreement).
Current or prospective businesses not directly associated with students are invited to contact the organizers to identify students that would be willing to help them develop a business plan. Requests will be honored in the order received and according to student availability and interest. Non-student business owners that are not eligible for the cash prizes will receive exposure to the business community in Anchorage, including financial movers and shakers that sponsor the competition, participate in the judging and attend the final presentations. Additionally, having students work on the business plan will allow the business owner to focus on running the business rather than on writing.
The Competition will be held on the UAA campus at the UAA/APU Consortium Library, Room 307, on Thursday, December 8, 2005 from 5:30 to 9:00 PM.
