Study Abroad and National Student Exchange | Why study abroad? You can't afford not to. - You no longer have the option of isolating yourself personally or in business from the global community.
- Intercultural communication skills are already demanded as a pre-qualification for careers in many different fields.
- You will have a competitive advantage in obtaining your first professional position.
- After college, there are very few opportunities to go abroad for any significant period of time, and even fewer opportunities to become immersed in cultures that you visit.
- When you study abroad you expand your horizons in ways you never imagined…it is a transforming experience. You will do yourself a disservice if you don't take advantage of this opportunity during your college career.

National Student Exchange NSE provides students with affordable and practical opportunities to experience new and diverse settings in which to study and live. Students can study for a semester or a year paying either UAA tuition or resident tuition at a choice of nearly 200 colleges and universities throughout the United States and Canada, including Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Visit http://www.nse.org for more information, and access UAA's NSE application here. Short-Term Programs While it is ideal to be able to study abroad for a semester or a year, some students cannot fit the expense or the time into their busy lifestyles. Short-term study abroad opportunities are an excellent way to experience "living" abroad in a short, intense time frame that is affordable and convenient for those with work and family obligations that won't allow them to leave home for extended periods of time. | | | Scandinavia, July and August, 2008 Travel with Dr. Christine Hanson as part of Anthropology course "Past Peoples of Scandinavia" to Denmark, Sweden, and Norway.
