I grew up in Haverhill, Massachusetts, a factory town on the New Hampshire border. I have degrees from the University of Massachusetts and UAA.

I worked in Alaska Public Schools for more than 25 years before coming to UAA in June 2005. I enjoy cross country skiing, hiking, listening to all types of music, birding and baseball. I'm married and have a daughter and a son.
