Welcome to the Difficult Dialogues Homepage
UAA and Alaska Pacific University are partners in an ongoing project known as Engaging Controversy sponsored in part by the Ford Foundation’s Difficult Dialogues initiative.
During the first two years of our partnership, we developed a faculty intensive program, launched a shared Book of the Year program, and created a handbook of our experiences (Start Talking) to share with our colleagues.
In June 2008 we submitted a proposal for a continuation project that will extend these activities to even more of our faculty members. The Start Talking handbook has been distributed to every permanent faculty member, and a PDF version is available on this site for our temporary and adjunct faculties and other interested readers.
We’ll be announcing new activities and opportunities for the 2008-09 academic year soon, so watch this space for more information.
