What is a DANTEs?
The DANTEs Subject Standardized Tests (DSST) Program are nationally recognized testing program that provides students the opportunity to receive college credit for learning acquired outside the traditional college classroom. The program consists of exams in 47 undergraduate college courses. DANTEs is a computer based test*.

*The speech DANTE is still a paper/pencil test and needs to be ordered through the Advising & Testing Center a few weeks before you wish to take the exam. Please call 786-4500 for more information.

Why take DANTEs exams?
Students take DANTEs exams to save time and money, move right into advanced courses, graduate on time, and satisfy a proficiency requirement. Many students save time and money by taking DANTEs exams to gain college credit for what they already know whether it was learned by independent study, advanced high school courses, professional development, or occupation skills.

Registration Information
The exam is $70 plus a $15 non-refundable registration fee for a total of $85. Military personnel should check with your Education Office before scheduling to see if any special conditions apply. The $15 registration fee for your DANTES exam can be paid at the Cashier's window in the University center.  Please stop by the Advising and Testing Center first so you can receive a payment card to take to the cashier.

If you are not having your scores sent to UAA, you will need the 4 digit school code of the school of your choice from the DANTES webpage. Please click here to look up your school code.

After you have paid your registration fee, you can come in any time during the testing lab's open lab hours to take the exam.  You will pay your $70 exam fee at the time of the test. This fee can be paid by credit card only.
