Purpose

To specify the right of entry policy for residential property

Policy

University personnel may enter residential properties to:
  1. Perform necessary maintenance.
  2. Conduct health and safety inspections.
  3. Enforce policies.
  4. Remove hazards or nuisances.
  5. Exhibit the premises to craftsmen or contractors.
  6. Deal with emergencies or crimes.
When feasible, the university will provide reasonable notice of housing entry for routine or preventative maintenance and repair and for health and safety inspections by maintenance and other authorized personnel.

University personnel may enter a student housing residence with prior notice but without student permission when they have reason to believe that there is a violation of the student code of conduct in progress. Such entry must be done by, or have the authorization of the chancellor or senior student services officer or designee.

University personnel may enter a student housing residence without prior notice or permission when they have reason to believe there is imminent danger to persons or property. Such entry must be done by, or have the authorization of the chancellor or senior student services officer or designee.
